About the Seacroft Canto

Poet Kimberly Campanello is creating her own version of Dante’s Divine Comedy as she faces the challenging symptoms of young onset Parkinson’s disease.

Chapel FM Arts Centre asked Kimberly to share her creative translation process with the Seacroft community.

In March 2026, they created The Seacroft Canto, a version of Dante's poem based on local stories and personal memories. This film follows their shared writing process as they journey together alongside Dante through the dark wood and into the light.

The Seacroft Canto was developed in partnership with The National Poetry Centre & Poetry@Leeds at the University of Leeds and supported by IGNITE funding from the Cultural Institute at the University of Leeds

12 June 2026: premiere screening of the film with Q&A at Leeds Literature Festival

28 Sept 2026: live appearance at the BBC Contains Strong Language Festival, Salford
